Mary Roberts Rinehart's "The Bat"
Read by James Wallington

A set of ten two-sided Victor Program Transcription records recorded in December 1932.
Records are 10" 33-1/3 RPM. Each side plays for about 12 minutes for a total playing
time of 4 hours. The book is abridged, perhaps by Avery Hopwood, whose name is on the
labels directly under Rinehart's. All sides show Take 1 in the usual 9 O'Clock position.
All sides were recorded in New York City.

They were all recorded with a Shure 2.5 mil conical stylus mounted in a Shure M55 cartridge.
You might like to play around with them yourself. Good Luck!!

I wrote to RCA in 1975 regarding these discs. This is the response I received.
My gut feeling is that these were records for the blind. That's just a guess though.
I don't know what "Special" means in the letter below.
In the light of more recent information, the range of Part Numbers (Master Numbers)
given is off and the place of recording is in error.

Here are a few RCA Victor Transcription discs by various artists. These are also
located in the Golden Age Of 78 RPM Records 1925-1932 page and 1932-1936 page.
